Gold animal welfare award for The Dutch Parrot Foundation!!On 4th, 5th and 6th of May the largest animal event in the Netherlands took place. This time it was not held in the Safaripark itself, but on the Event Centre.Over 150 different organisations were present. The Dutch Parrot foundation participated as we did the last years. The event welcomed overn 23.000 visitors, so lots of people passed our stand. Well attended workshops were given by our chairman Jan Hooimeijer. For the first time the Animal Welfare Award was presented. A selection was made among 152 candidates by a jury with chairman Jacques Kaandorp, the vet of the Safaripark. The Dutch Parrot Foundation was found to make the difference because of our great stand, our enthusiastic volunteers who are an authority when it comes to parrots/parakeets, and because we intend to make a change in the law regarding to exotics. That is why The Dutch Parrot Foundation won the Gold Animal Welfare Award. As you can see in our photo impression, we were very happy with our price. A very successful event for our foundation and a big compliment to our volunteers, who tirelessly fight for the rights of parrots and parakeets. Animal Event 2012 |
